This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about helping others improve their hearing and is eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional clinical setting. As an HIS Intern, you will work closely with experienced professionals, receive practical training, and play a valuable role in supporting patients on their journey to better hearing.

Ontario H.I.S. Internship Overview

Eligibility Requirements
- Graduate from an AHIP‑recognized H.I.S. college or diploma program.
- Submit a Work Plan Declaration and obtain approval from AHIP before starting the internship.

Breakdown of the 1000-hour requirement
- First 300 hours: Close supervision. The Monitor (an AHIP‑member H.I.S. or registered CASLPO audiologist) must be onsite 100% of the time, co‑sign all reports and test records, and supervise every clinical procedure.
- Remaining 700 hours: General supervision. The Monitor co‑signs documents, is available for consultation (in‑person or remote), reviews cases weekly, and must be onsite at least 60% of the time when the intern is providing service.

Timeline and Monitoring
- The total internship must be completed within 36 months of graduation.
- Monthly logs signed by both Intern and Monitor are submitted to AHIP by the 15th of the following month.
- AHIP’s Chair of Internship may check in during the first 300 hours and reviews final hours and documentation before certification is granted.
- Upon completing the 1,000-hour internship, you must pass the ILE, and once approved, you’ll receive full H.I.S. status and may qualify to register as an ADP authorizer.
